The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) is a professional organization whose mission is to validate excellence in medical-surgical nursing. MSNCB has offered the prestigious Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®) credential to medical-surgical nurses since 2003.
CMSRN certification is the recognized path for medical-surgical nurses to build and demonstrate commitment, confidence, and credibility.
The CMSRN exam is available throughout the year as computer-based testing (CBT) at 260+ testing centers nationwide (link is external)
CMSRN exams are administered as P&P two times a year with limited sites.
CMSRN Exam Details:
- 150 multiple choice questions. See Sample Questions.
- Three hour exam.
- Standard score of 95 (equal to approximately 71% correct) to pass.
- Paper-and-Pencil exam format also has 25 experimental questions (not scored) and one additional hour to test.
